The Imagine Cup asks students to use their imaginations and their love of technology to solve some of the world's biggest problems. More than one hundred thousand students in the United States alone registered for the event this year. Twenty-two teams were chosen to take part in the finals in Seattle, Washington.
Team FlashFood won first place in the Imagine Cup's Software Design competition. Eric Lehnhardt is the leader of the team.
Eric Lehnhardt: "The idea is this, that there's a lot of food that goes to waste from hotels, from catered events and from restaurants. And this food is, it's perishable food, so it's the kind of food that can't normally be handled by food recovery organizations like food banks or food pantries."
Eric Lehnhardt says food insecurity affects a lot of people, especially in large population centers.
Eric Lehnhardt: "They don't necessarily know where their next meal is coming from, or that they have to make decisions between paying their bills and whether or not they're going to eat for a day."
The FlashFood team has developed a way to get leftover and unwanted food into the hands of people who need it.
Eric Lehnhardt: "It's a mobile application and website that makes it possible for restaurant managers to enter information about food that they would like to donate into our network - sending a notification then to a team of volunteer drivers who can go pick up the leftover food and take it into a community where those who are living in food insecurity can receive that donation."
Richard Filley is director of the Engineering Projects in Community Service program at Arizona State. The FlashFood team is one of the program's thirty-seven projects. Mr. Filley says winning the Imagine Cup's Software design category is a major honor. But, he says, it is not what energizes his students.
RICHARD FILLEY: "We have students that want to change the world and make a difference and we're very serious about that."
Microsoft is celebrating the tenth year of the Imagine Cup. Mark Hindsbo is a vice president with the company. He says the competition has changed a lot since it first began.
MARK HINDSBO: "It was very computer science focused. Almost all of the students had a computer science background. And the projects themselves were very computer science focused."
Mr. Hindsbo says the students who compete now have different areas of expertise. For example, Team FlashFood had a student who studied biomedical engineering. Another student studied marketing and sustainability. Yet another studied material science and engineering.
MARK HINDSBO: "The projects are much better, much stronger much more exciting as a result because they play off each other's skills."

Spiritual but not Religioned I can't believe all the religious nuts out there. Jesus saves. Might as well say Allah saves or Zeus saves. Everyone thinks they have the right religion and all others must convert, die or go to some imaginary hell.
Where ever we came from, I think we'll all go back there again. I don't think there's some gate keeper religion making exceptions to this rule.

terminal I have been terminal since 1992. I fight, I rejoice and I cry. I have gotten lost in my treatments. Some times I don't even see a difference of night or day. I just became a grandmother this last year. Wow truely never imagined this joy. It started with cervical now it is in my portal vein, between pancreas and liver. I dream of being as adventurous as you. I served my country in the army and raised two daughters that are my living legacy. I have a beautiful husband that I will hate to leave. I am tired and the pain is up there. I love the ocean he takes me there for peace. I am not sorry I have this in my life. Just learned to incorporate it. That statement can only be understood by those who have had to live with this ghost. My family and friends are afraid to get to close to me but I understand. I wish I could meet you and look into your eyes. I know I would see myself, and I would have no regrets. I salute all women. I am a fierce warrior. When asked how I could keep strong? Life Doesn't End Here! I lost my mother to Pancreatic Cancer Dec. 4, 2009. She was diagnosed Nov. 2, 2009 two day before her 65th birthday and died a month later. I understand your intense desire to make an impact, my mother didn't have time. She did though live a life for Jesus Christ and was a true example of a Godly woman. She was with her children and my father in the end, which was priceless. But the most priceless thing for me as her daugther is that I know she accepted Christ as her Savior and that I will see her again. She was not angry with her diagnosis, she only was sad about the things she would miss out on. My mother said she was ready to be with her Lord and Savior and excited to see her father and other family members that she knew where Born again Christians. As you live your last days here on Earth you might want to focus on your Eternity. There are two places to go one is Heaven and the other is Hell. There is nothing else, what a terrible thought to leave your children with. I would rather have my mother with me than paddling down a river. Your daughter is only 12. |

God doesn't want anyone to go to hell of course, that's why I believe that He gives us all a chance to hear the truth. the truth is that all the people that made comments about Jesus,knowing God and accepting Him as our Lord in Saviour is the Truth! Please pray and ask God to reveal you the truth and he will. He is a loving God but he is also just. Heaven and Hell is real and just being good doesn't get us to heaven, it's actually easier than that. Just believing that we are all sinners and Jesus died for our sins and rose again and sincerely pray that prayer in your heart, you will have eternal life with God in heaven. Seems it did go into 1 lymph node,

Support I have survived breast cancer twice,fortunately both times the cancer was found in the first stage. The way the cancer was found the fist time, is what I now call a miracle, because I went to the doctor for a bad urinary infection, which lead to finding the cancer. The lump was removed and only got radiation. Thirteen years later the second time cancer came back in the same breast, what happened is that I felt the scar tissue and notice that the texture had changed. This time the breast was removed and thankfully it had not spread. I got 6 chemo treatments, I almost chickened out at 3 but instead this young man in the oncology ward shared his incredible story, 7 tummors, 21 days in a row of chemo and more. My sisters were worried because I wanted to quit, then the one that was with me said, well if you had any doubts there's your answer. Last year the obgyn found HPV, I said fantastic ;( so to avoid cervical cancer, every thing was removed, at 55 I said go for it. A few years after I had cancer the first time, I got a pimple at the end of my eye brow, picked it and let it go, however after a few months I noticed it would not heal, I took myself to the dermatologist, and sure enough they found pre-cancerous cells. Even though I've taken this opportunity to tell my story I know very well is not about me, it's about you however because others shared their experience, they made reconsider and get perspective, courage, acceptance, hope and strength, all from just sharing. When I would lay in bed after a treatment, I would talk to God (I used to be an atheist way before cancer)and ask that he give me the strength little children have when they get cancers that don't even have names for. Every has their own way of facing their illness, I threw and going away party for my breast, I invited friends to celebrate their brests and wear something nice, sexy or nothing at all and have their pictures taken,I was so surprised most did! Celebrate your life, and take with you the hope and strength of all the ones that have gone before and those of us who remain, and when the time comes go in peace into the arms of the one that makes all things new. |

Patience is Half of Faith Patience in relation to faith is like the head in relation to the body. It is of three types:
(1) patience concerning the obligations (fard) laid down by Allah, that one should not neglect them;
(2) patience in abstaining from actions forbidden by Him, that one should not commit them;
(3) patience concerning His judgments (qada') and decrees (qadar), that one should not resent them.
Whoever perfectly fulfills these three degrees has perfected patience. If you reflect on the degrees of perfection acquired in the world, you will see that they are all dependent on patience. And if you reflect on imperfection, which one is blamed for possessing, you will see it all stemming from lack of patience. Thus courage and purity, goodness and love of others, all this is the patience of an hour.
Most sicknesses of the body and heart arise simply from lack of patience. And there is naught like patience for preserving the health of hearts, bodies and spirits. For it is the great remedy, the mighty tiryaq, even if it were to contain only the company of Allah"for Allah is with the patient" [Surah Al-Baqarah:153],
and His affection for them for indeed "Allah loves those who are patient"[Surah Al-Imran:146],
and His giving victory to His people 'for victory comes with patience'; and that it is a good for the people of patience, "And if you show patience, that is indeed the best course for those who are patient" [Surah An-Nahl: 126],
and that it is the cause of prosperity, "O you who believe! Persevere in patience, vie in perseverance, be ever vigilant, and fear Allah, that perchance you may prosper" [Surah Al-Imran:200].

Routine test Michelle, May I ask you if you went regularly for gyn exams and paps tests?? I am a cytotechnologist, screening paps is our specialty. We diagnose hundreds of pre-cancerous lesions on the cervix each year, way before they are at the lethal stage. I am so sorry for you to have this disease , It breaks my heart . I know your pain....... My heart goes out to you, I feel your pain. I got diagnosed earlier this year with brain cancer at the age of 29. I just started off my life, my son was born 6 months earlier, great career, great husband, I had a great life. This whole ordeal has put me in check and made me realize what is truely important in life. I am happy that you have found through your beliefs and the love from the community.
I hope this trip for you bring you happiness and peace in your heart and with others. I hope you find the light you are looking for and I will think about you every night before I go to bed and know that there is another paddler ( oh yes, I am an awesome paddler on a Dragon Boat team) that is ready for the race of her life.

He called you into life and He is the one who decides when it will be your time. I pray that you will open a bible yourself and look for the truth. I read your story online and what connected with me most is not only your inner strength but your physical one as well. It is allopathic medicine that suppresses symptoms. The fact that the treatments did not suppress your symptoms and then made them multiply is sign that your vital energy can cure. It is not medicine that cures us, allopathic medicine is what treats symptoms only. It is the emptying of your subconscious mind, the darkest shadow that each and every one of us has, that must be examined as it holds the key. Your dreams hold this key as well, don't let this label of cancer or this terrible prognosis determine your fate. On your journey I hope you can discover the true meaning of health. I do not think you were wrong to not get diagnoses or tested earlier. YOu can live and there will be many people praying for this for you. Don't expend your energy too far away from that. Medical practioners of western medicine have a limited capacity and role, and ultiately it is the body that must and does heal itself. The question is, if the methodology helps or hinders it. The fact that you can even conceive to take on such a journey is only testament to teh wellspring of strength that few on this earth have. Vomitting, was sign of your body expelling the allopathic poisons. I pray that you will connect and meet the right person in the next few days on your journey who will help your healing the rest of the way from this cancer. Reserve your strength dear angel, you need it to heal yourself, as in healing yourself the rest of the way you will inspire and heal even more than you already are doing. Many alternative therapies do not know the science of true healing, but there are a few brave ones that do. David Little in India is one of them. Try to find him and comunicate with him via email for some guidance. At the minimum bring a first aid remedy kit along your trip to help combat the illnesses that might arise. One for dysentery, one for muscle re-cooperation. I truly understand your health predicament and the incurability factor all too well... something very similar happened to me, though I did not have your physical strength to draw on, but I have beat all the odds and then some. It was once I left the paradigm of allopathic medicine, as well as forgiving it for the harm it caused me which I did not know at the time. You can live with such spirit and strength and support. You are truly an amazing woman. You are strong, and that spirit and soul of yours transcends words on a page to the countless people that are reading and now praying for you. Do not think you made a mistake in not getting an early diagnosis. And when you discover mistakes the best thing is to recognize and press forward like you are. Already by undertaking and planning such journey you demonstrate true courage. I just watched “The Gerson Miracle” on Netflix about people who survived after they were told they have a short time to live due to their cancer. Michele, you can do the fund raising after healing yourself using the juicing diet. Don’t give up yet. Don’t waste more time. Try the therapy after watching the documentaries. I have had the opportunity to go over to India as well as other countries near there. Whether its hinduism or buddhism it is driven by superstition and fear. Buddha died without ever achieving true "inner peace" as a recluse who left his family. He is dead, but Christ lives and offers forgiveness for our sins and eternal life. I pray you will repent and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. As far as the "ganges" it is a river of filth with no power to heal or cleanse, but Christ can. "But God commended His love for us in while we were yet sinners Christ died." Rom. 5:8. |
